Looking to add a prop or four to your repertoire? Kalila Indivar offers a series of 4 prop workshops intended to introduce you to her unique approach to props. You’ll get the tools and the confidence to further explore these props and expand your performance options. Space will be limited to allow for personal attention for all students. All workshops are 2-4 PM.

March 9: Candles/water cups
Candles or water cup lend an aura of mystery to a performance. We’ll explore techniques for balance, options for movement, and what makes a good prop. This workshop will include some floor work. Bring a pair of bocce balls for practice, and knee pads.
March 23: Fan veil
Known for her phenomenal fan veil performances, Kalila will share a few of her secrets. We’ll cover framing and poses, spin technique, and standing and travelling movements, including options for flutter fans. Bring your fan veils or fans.
March 30: Cane
Cane isn’t just for saidi anymore. Use of cane has a long history in dance performance, from saidi to Broadway and jazz. We’ll explore framing, cane movement, and variations for different types of cane. Bring your performance cane.
April 6: Sword
Sword holds great performance appeal with an air of danger that excites audiences. We’ll cover framing, movement with sword, and balance. Bring your sword, and knee pads.
